about look at us now!
who are we?
The team at Look At Us Now! each bring their own lived experience of disability to the project, allowing for a better understanding into the barriers we have each faced when trying to access the arts.
From different creative backgrounds, each of our team lead’s bring a range of different knowledge and practical skills to the important work we are doing.
And that’s not all! We actively aim to collaborate, co-design and make change with a range of UK based disabled creatives. We want to platform your voices, bring real experiences to the design process and create an accessible creative industry.
what are our aims?
The Look At Us Now! project aims to remove the societal barriers for disabled individuals by co-designing high-fashion editorial campaigns focused on personal lived experiences of disability and advocacy in standard settings.
Our Goals:
Amplify Disabled Voices: To elevate and showcase the unique narratives and experiences of disabled individuals, ensuring their stories are heard and valued within the fashion and creative industries.
Challenge Stereotypes: To confront and dismantle existing stereotypes about disability by presenting authentic representations of disabled people in high fashion and editorial contexts, promoting a more inclusive and equitable perception of beauty and talent. Collaborating with the disabled community to gather their insights and perspectives is vital in this effort.
Create an Inclusive Experience in fashion: To enhance access for the disabled community, we aim to include them in co-designed profile campaigns that reflect their experiences. This collaboration will help transform industry standards, ensuring their contributions influence initiatives. Additionally, incorporating inclusive research on their unique needs will deepen our understanding of their experiences.
Remaining Sustainable: To remain sustainable through the use of our physical materials for prop and set design. Using recycled materials gathered from a range of scrap stores, charity shops and own home recycling.
